PROMPT SELECTION: VISUAL EATING

Tips for taking great food photos are:

  1. Use natural light. Try to avoid overhead lights or your built-in flash.
  2. Work it out, move around and check the viewfinder to find the best light source. Watch out for unwanted shadows. Oh, and taking photos in your kitchen is not obligatory.
  3. Try different perspectives and make use of all view angles.
  4. Minimize clutter.

We could go on like that for another 5, or even 10 points. The truth is practice make perfect. It takes time to learn how to master really ’tasty’ food photography. Not to mention the prep you have to make for the food to actually look good. After all, it’s not always edible, and we mean the actual food you took shots of. You may heave heard about this. But… here comes the AI. No food wasted, that’s one thing, but gosh, how good it looks is yet another. We’ve been waiting with posting the post about food prompts for a while, watching with great interest how the theme will evolve. And the bottom line here is this is yet another great way for brands, restaurants, creators or even “foodies” to use the power of AI in their favor. We are blown away by the most up-to-date prompt development that has been brought to daylight.

One of the most active AI educators and consultants, who eagerly undertakes all the possible Midjourney challenges, @LinusEkenstam, has been working recently with some food prompting guidelines: Mexican Breakfast Bowls, burgers, Poké Bowls, pancakes, burritos… you name it! Linus’s aim was in general to „keep the prompt short”, why? Cause it works! Just take a look at some of his great work on the tastiest thing ever.

There is even a smoothie that comes with it.

After breakfast let’s jump on to lunch from one of the best, Kris Kashtanova, @icreatelife. Pizzas are on the house.

@timetravelr2025 in response got us covered with some vegan options too. It’s a shame Midjourney thinks it’s all about chickpeas though.

You got room for some dessert? Who wouldn’t! Just have a glance at those deliciously-looking pastries from another AI art enthusiast and an educator @followmarcos. Amazing work!

It’s not all about Midjourney though, @Dragujhn stepped in with some incredible Bing-born cakes.

And more goodies from the talented @sbacani, like the ones using the most trendy Midjourney technique recently – prompt blending. Fancy any stormtrooper cupcakes?

Or a taste of luxury maybe?

artist: @sbacani / prompt: A photorealistic 3D image of a luxury display featuring cakes of different luxury brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, and Hermes. The cakes are made of fondant and are decorated with intricate details, such as the logos of the respective brands, flowers, and ribbons. The cakes are placed on a wooden table and are surrounded by pink and colorful flowers. The amount of details is just out of this world, you wouldn’t be able to get the effect in real life like the one below without the super expensive photo equipment, skills, both in macro and food photography plus post processing. Now you can prompt it like it’s hot! It’s just unbelievably good.

If you want to see more of this crazy ‘tasty’ artificial food, literally this time, make sure to follow the great AI adopters we mentioned above. Enjoy your meals.
